Your Kid Is Evil (and So Is Mine)

Do your kids know about the evil in their hears? Too many parents spend too much time giving their children false little pep talks about what "little sweethearts they are." Unfortunately, that is completely the opposite from what the Bible says about the human condition.
"The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually." - Genesis 6:25

"for the intention of man's heart is evil from his youth" - Genesis 8:21

"This is an evil in all that is done under the sun, that the same event happens to all. Also, the hearts of the children of man are full of evil, and madness is in their hearts while they live, and after that they go to the dead." - Ecclesiastes 9:3

"as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one;" - Romans 3:10

"43 “For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, 44 for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thorn bushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. 45 The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks." - Luke 6:43-45

"Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking deceit." - Psalm 34:14

Our kids need to know the truth about themselves, so they begin, at a young age, recognizing their need for a Savior. You need to tell your kid that their sinful behavior comes from the evil within their hearts, and that only Jesus can help them make the right choices we as parents desire for them to make. This truth should remind us as parents to lower our expectations a bit and spend less time yelling at our kids and more time in prayer aksing the Holy Spirit to capture and transform their hearts.
